Wang Guanhua, spokesperson of the National Bureau of Statistics and head of the Comprehensive Statistics Department of the National Economy, said that the demand surge for high-end computing power chips and storage chips driven by global AI technology-driven changes led to a 23.1% year-on-year increase in the output of integrated circuits by China’s industrial enterprises above designated size in the first half of the year. The output reached 279.8 billion units. This figure is enormous—when converted, the average daily production of integrated circuits exceeds 1.5 billion units. Integrated circuits are chips; they are widely used in intelligent equipment and electronic products. The output of more than 1.5 billion chips per day is not only an update in numbers, but also a vivid reflection of the momentum behind China’s semiconductor industry development.
