BlockBeats message: On July 15, according to South Korean media outlet Bloter, an insider said Samsung Electronics has started internal research into various options for issuing ADRs in the United States and is beginning to assess the relevant operational procedures. Bloomberg reported on July 14 that Samsung Electronics had held preliminary discussions with multiple investment banks about listing in the U.S. via ADRs. Samsung Electronics responded that it has not considered listing in the U.S. market by issuing ADRs. However, market participants believe that Samsung Electronics’ denial this time does not mean the possibility of issuing ADRs in the future has been completely ruled out. Although the company denied the plan, under instructions from management, the relevant business departments have begun evaluating the potential costs, benefits, and required procedures of issuing ADRs. Semiconductor industry sources said on July 15 that the company’s management recently instructed the relevant departments to study whether a feasible architecture suitable for the company’s issuance of ADRs can be designed. As part of the research, Samsung Electronics personnel have sought information from SK Hynix, which recently completed an ADR issuance and listed on Nasdaq. (Jin10)
