Video|SK Group chairman Choi Tae-won: Memory demand will keep increasing; our supply capacity will never be able to catch up

Abstract generation in progress
On July 11, SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won told Bloomberg in an interview that AI is fundamentally changing the demand logic for memory chip demand. In the past, memory demand was mainly constrained by population and the number of end-user devices; in the future, however, everyone may have dozens or even hundreds of AI agents at the same time, and the vast amount of cache they generate will drive extremely large memory demand. It is precisely for this reason that SK hynix plans to double its overall production capacity over the next five years. Choi Tae-won believes memory demand in the AI era will grow exponentially, supply tightness could persist for many years, and capacity expansion still will be difficult to catch up with demand.
