On July 14, the Yemeni Houthi group released a video via social media on the evening of July 13 local time, threatening to attack multiple targets in Saudi Arabia. The video published by the Houthis showed aerial images and coordinate of key facilities, including King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital Riyadh, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, and ports, accompanied by the text 'Retaliation is coming.' Earlier that day, Sanaa International Airport, controlled by the Houthis, was hit by an airstrike. The Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out the attack and vowed revenge. The Saudi-backed Yemeni government's Ministry of Defense stated that the airstrike on Sanaa International Airport was aimed at preventing a senior Houthi delegation, who had attended the funeral of Iran's late Supreme Leader Khamenei, from returning home on an Iranian plane that day. The Saudi-led multinational coalition said that evening that its air defense systems had responded to ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis toward southern Saudi Arabia.
