#PreIPOsSeason2OpenAISubscription Trading Insight: Short-Term Fortune Is the Beginning of Loss for Most People

(This is only sharing my personal practical experience and is not investment advice. Market volatility is extremely severe; please manage risk carefully.)

Many people who get a huge profit for the first time in the market mistakenly believe it is because of their extraordinary skills. In reality, it’s often simply a matter of catching a bullish market. The seemingly free profits give them the illusion of a shortcut to consistent wealth.

I have a real example: someone entered the market with 1,500 yuan and turned it into 40,000 yuan in just two days. The shock from such gains was too overwhelming, and their mindset completely lost balance.

Then he told me that since then, he couldn’t approach trading with a calm mindset. He looked down on his fixed salary, thought that small gains of a few points didn’t matter, and felt that following a stable, rhythmic investment strategy was a waste of time. His mind constantly waited for the next doubling opportunity.

The seeds of major losses were planted right from the moment his mindset became too overconfident.

Unwilling to wait patiently for the right opportunity anymore, they entered the market with large positions on any small market move; even a minor drop pushed them to panic and add positions to lower their average cost, and small losses triggered frantic attempts to recover losses and turn things around. Short-term gains created the illusion that making money should be easy, and temporary losses were just bad luck.

But the market is skilled at exploiting this restless mentality. First, the market lets you ride a winning streak to build confidence, and then a single market move wipes out all the gains—sometimes even taking back the initial capital.

In the end, his account balance shrank to only a few hundred, and he was truly stuck. He was restless at work in the daytime, suffered from insomnia at night, and couldn’t stop himself from checking his phone even for just a few minutes—his entire existence was completely bound to market fluctuations.

After spending so long in the trading world, I’ve always felt that the hardest part of the market isn’t suddenly making big profits, but staying calm after making a lot of money. Knowing when to secure profits and when to exit when the market is heating up is the key to surviving long-term.
