Crypto distribution firm Chainstory recently released a report saying that the coverage of the crypto industry on Wikipedia is severely lacking. Among the top 1,000 crypto projects by CoinGecko market capitalization, only 67 have Wikipedia entries. Leading projects such as Hyperliquid and Sui currently have no entries. The report argues that Wikipedia’s editing guidelines for crypto media (treating most crypto media as “unreliable”) and strict entry screening mechanisms have caused much crypto infrastructure worth tens of billions of dollars to disappear from the internet’s most authoritative public records. AI tools such as ChatGPT heavily rely on Wikipedia as an information source (Wikipedia accounts for 7.8% of ChatGPT’s source links, far exceeding Reddit and Forbes). (CoinDesk)
