There’s a solo miner who just hit 3,138 BTC (around $200,000). What surprised me is that he used only a single, entry-level Bitaxe miner—tiny like an ATM card—costing roughly $60 to $150.

With this machine’s weak power output of just 1 TH/s, in theory it would take about 16,000 to 18,000 years to mine 1 block. Yet this guy plugged it in and ran it for only 8 hours, and he hit immediately.
That said, we still have to look at reality a bit, folks. Over the past year, solo miners together have only managed to mine a total of 24 blocks. The odds of getting lucky like that, when calculated out, are still multiple times harder than trying to find a needle at the bottom of the ocean.
I’m telling you this to show that life has plenty of interesting luck and bad luck. As for business, let’s stay practical—don’t see someone else winning and then go buy a machine to try your luck, okay!
