According to The New York Times, OpenAI has partnered with prediction market platform Kalshi to display World Cup odds data in ChatGPT search results. This is OpenAI’s first collaboration with a prediction market platform: when users ask ChatGPT questions related to World Cup matches, the system will show win-rate forecasts provided by Kalshi, with the data source clearly labeled. Previously, Kalshi had already struck similar data-integration partnerships with platforms such as CNN, CNBC, and Google, while its competitor Polymarket had also previously reached a data-integration agreement with a Dow Jones product. Despite OpenAI emphasizing in its support page that the feature is for “information reference” only and that users cannot place bets directly through ChatGPT, as regulatory concerns intensify over prediction-market wagers tied to geopolitical issues and company news, such integrations have sparked industry discussions about the risk of sensitive information leaks and insider trading.
