Bank of America: SK hynix’s new capacity to be added in 2028 may be only one-sixth of the plan

BlockBeats message: On July 15, in a report released by Bank of America at 7 p.m. local time on July 14, it was stated that due to the closure of older plants caused by technical upgrades, South Korea’s actual year-average wafer production capacity growth rate will be below 10%, far short of the official target of doubling by 2030.

By 2028, SK hynix’s additional memory production capacity could be only one-sixth of the original plan. In addition, the construction and equipment installation schedule for Samsung and SK hynix to build large new wafer fabs in Gwangju and Jeolla may be extended to ten years.
