Coinbase platform head Rob Witoff said in an interview that currently 95% to 100% of the company’s code is written with the assistance of AI or large language models, representing a significant increase from 40% earlier this February. Witoff noted that the company has already achieved daily AI use for all employees, and that each engineer, on average, runs 5 to 10 AI agents at the same time; the combined productivity of these agents is equivalent to about 1,200 full-time developers. This transformation has prompted Coinbase to adjust its organizational structure—forming more streamlined, senior small teams. Previously, projects that required more than 10 people now only need 2 to 3 people to complete, which is also one of the key factors behind Coinbase’s 14% layoffs this May. Coinbase predicts that by 2030, the workload of AI agents could reach a level equivalent to 100,000 employees. (Cointelegraph)
