Re-staking protocol Symbiotic announced the launch of Core V2, expanding its shared collateral mechanism to scenarios including insurance, on-chain credit, and RWA. Core V2 allows the same collateral asset to support multiple financial obligations at the same time, and deploys it to protocols such as Aave and Morpho during idle periods to generate additional yield. Symbiotic said the upgrade is designed to build an on-chain “Collateral Markets” framework, improve capital efficiency, and bring institutional capital into on-chain finance. Symbiotic previously raised $5.8 million in a seed round led by Paradigm in 2024, and completed a $29 million funding round led by Pantera Capital in 2025.

Putting idle funds into Aave/Morpho to earn yield is a pretty smart design, and capital efficiency has indeed improved.

Paradigm + Pantera double down on two rounds of bets—institutional recognition is at its peak, but execution speed needs to keep up with the fundraising pace.

Shared collateral has finally stopped going nowhere in DeFi alone—only once it can enter insurance and RWA does it truly break out.
