Trump: Only block Iranian maritime shipping, replacing the U.S.’s 20% compensation fee with Gulf investments

Cointelegraph reported that on July 14, U.S. President Trump posted: “Oil liquidity is unprecedented. The Strait of Hormuz is open to all ships except those from Iran. Iran is excluded for the reason that its leadership is filled with lies, violence, and malice, and is driving the country toward the abyss of total destruction. We will implement a comprehensive blockade, but only for ships traveling to and from Iranian ports or carrying cargo related to Iran. I have decided to cancel the ‘U.S. 20% compensation fee’ requirement and instead replace it with trade and investment agreements reached between Gulf states and the United States. The scale of these investments will be enormous. The days when Iran caused the deaths of tens of thousands of people are over—and more importantly, Iran will never have nuclear weapons!”
