On July 15, the United States is advancing negotiations for an oil pipeline that will bypass the Strait of Hormuz, transporting oil from Iraq to Syria, thereby reducing Iran's future influence on global energy supplies. According to informed sources, Thomas Barak, the US special representative for Syria and Iraq, has convened officials from both countries and companies including Chevron to discuss the reopening of a long-dormant pipeline from Iraq to Syria's western coast. While various new route options are currently being considered, the discussions are primarily focused on reconstructing the Kirkuk-Baniyas pipeline, which has been out of operation for over twenty years. A State Department official confirmed that the US government is supporting the repair of the oil pipeline between Iraq and Syria to expand trade routes, and it is expected that American companies will play a significant role in the construction of the pipeline. Earlier on Tuesday, Trump met with the Iraqi Prime Minister at the White House and stated that a 'massive' new oil cooperation would be announced this week or next.
