BlockBeats news, July 15, citing Axios, reported that US President Donald Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a phone call that the Israeli military should begin redeploying forces from Syria, and urged Israel to carry out similar actions in Lebanon.

Trump believes that the Israeli forces stationed in the areas of Syria they control are aggravating regional tensions, could lead to escalation, and told Netanyahu: “They don’t want you there, you should redeploy.” Netanyahu, in response, emphasized that Israel needs to keep a security buffer zone along the border.

The report said the Trump administration has been pushing for months for Israel and Syria to reach a new security arrangement, hoping that the Israeli military would gradually withdraw from Syrian territory it has controlled since the fall of the Assad regime at the end of 2024. However, it believes Netanyahu has no intention of making such concessions. In addition, the US side has recently mediated the implementation of the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire framework, pushing for the Israeli military to withdraw from some parts of southern Lebanon, but disagreements remain over the withdrawal timetable.
