The Oman Maritime Security Center said on Tuesday that three oil tankers were attacked at multiple locations in waters near Oman the same day, leaving a total of 3 crew members missing and 6 injured.

All three attacked oil tankers were flying the flag of Liberia. One of the tankers was attacked off the coast near Musandam Governorate in Oman; 18 crew members have been transferred by nearby vessels, and 3 people remain missing. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing.

Another tanker was attacked about 8.5 nautical miles off the coast of the Musandam Governorate. The vessel lost power and 6 crew members were injured. Oman’s naval vessels are monitoring the situation on site. A further tanker was attacked in waters near South Al Sharqiyah Governorate in Oman, with a fire in the engine room, and no casualties were reported.

In a statement, Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on relevant parties to respect international law and ensure the safe passage of merchant ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
