Nvidia cuts Asian customers by more than half to prevent AI chips from getting to China

The British Financial Times (FT), citing people familiar with the matter, reported that the US chipmaker Nvidia has drawn up a new customer “whitelist” to prevent its chips from being routed to China through third-party channels. The whitelist allows only companies that pass stricter compliance reviews to purchase its AI chips, reducing by more than half the number of Asian customers authorized to buy its AI chips.
