Russia and the United States to develop a joint plan; ISS operations are expected to end by the end of 2030

Golden Finance reported that on July 15, the Secretariat of Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Manturov released a statement saying that after a visit by NASA Administrator Isaacman, Russia and the United States have drawn up a joint plan, under which operations of the International Space Station are expected to end by the end of 2030. The two sides also discussed emergency mutual assistance cooperation for the national orbital station, lunar exploration collaboration projects, and joint experiments in space medicine and biology. The International Space Station began construction in 1998; its initial designed service life was 15 years, and it has been extended multiple times since then. The service module of Russia’s segment, the “Zvezda” service module, has had a continuous air-leak issue since 2019. (CCTV News)
