The real people who know how to fight always commit their forces in batches. The vanguard goes ahead to scout the route; once the situation is right, you add the main force. You always keep a squad of elites in the rear to respond to sudden developments.

Most people have only a small amount of capital, and they think, “Since it’s already small, if I don’t go all out, how can it ever roll into something big?” This idea is the most dangerous.
