Wu Says learned that the NEAR Foundation will announce that it is joining the x402 Foundation, which is under the Linux Foundation, as a general member. It will work with members such as Google, AWS, Stripe, and others to advance the development of open payment infrastructure and transaction standards for the AI agent economy. NEAR said that, based on the x402 payment protocol, it will provide technical support for the agent economy, including cross-chain liquidity, privacy inference, confidential execution, and agent discovery. The cross-chain liquidity will cover more than 30 chains and 180 types of assets. x402 is an open-source internet payments protocol created by Coinbase and contributed to the Linux Foundation, which can support AI agents, applications, and APIs to automatically complete payments through the network.

NEAR’s move this time is a bit interesting; the combination of x402 and the Linux Foundation’s card is playing very solidly.

Privacy inference + confidential execution—does an AI agent that pays still need to prevent snooping? That’s a pretty detailed set of requirements.
