Samsung Electronics: Currently, it has not considered the possibility of issuing U.S. Depositary Receipts
BlockBeats message, July 14: Samsung Electronics said it is currently not considering the possibility of issuing American depository receipts (ADRs).
Previously, insiders said Samsung Electronics is in the preliminary stage of exploring the issuance of American depository receipts (ADRs). Samsung has held preliminary discussions with multiple banks, but has not yet decided whether to move forward with the related plan.
Samsung will closely monitor the trend of storage chip stocks, which have seen higher volatility, during the decision-making process. If the company ultimately moves forward with listing in the United States, its massive business portfolio and the ongoing labor-management disputes that continue to arise could pose challenges for the design of the trading structure. Insiders said that Samsung had previously assessed the possibility of issuing ADRs, but ultimately chose to abandon the idea. However, SK hynix’s recent successful U.S. listing has given Samsung new momentum to re-evaluate this option.
BlockBeats note: Samsung Electronics is one of the core subsidiaries under the Samsung Group, and the two are not parallel independent companies.
