Sometimes the worst part of the market is right when you’re about to give up—it starts moving. Before this $CL trade, it spent quite a while ranging around 70.08. The chart didn’t look too bad, but it just wouldn’t give a decisive breakout.



What I was most afraid of then was suddenly getting carried away—either quitting early because it was too slow, or seeing a surge candle and chasing it. Later it pushed to 78.83; this trade is up +1161.46% in unrealized profit, basically making back the waiting period from earlier.

That said, I don’t really like immediately fantasizing about a big move after hitting profits, especially with short-term futures. If the gains don’t get protected first, it’s easy to see a sudden pullback and have your mindset thrown off.

The feeling I get from this kind of chart is pretty simple: you can have patience, but taking the last bite out of greed isn’t necessary.
