Hyundai Motor is piloting cross-border payments in the US-Mexico corridor using Tether stablecoin
CoinWorld reports that Hyundai Motor completed a pilot for cross-border payments on the Avalanche blockchain using the USDT stablecoin between the U.S. and Mexico, with $20,000 received in about 7 minutes. The U.S. side converts dollars to USDT, sends them to the Mexico side, and then the Mexico side converts them back to dollars, which is significantly faster than traditional banks’ processing that typically takes hours. Axiym provides the settlement infrastructure, while Hyundai cards handle remittance structure and support for compliance, accounting, operations, and more. The participating parties are evaluating the potential for stablecoins in more enterprise use cases.
