This empty short finally paid off. $ETH slid down from the highs—the pace was even more straightforward than I expected.

At the time, I wasn’t watching how much it dropped, but whether it could rebound—yet it couldn’t get back up. After opening the short around 2111.63, the chart tried to push higher a few times but there wasn’t any volume. What really caught my attention was that the selling pressure at the high kept getting clearer. While many people were still waiting for a breakout, I could already tell the structure was off.

Now the price is at 1775.32, with unrealized P&L of +2767.94%. This move has, by and large, eaten through a portion of the downside room. After the market’s room has been released, positions can’t be held with the same mindset as when you first entered. Brothers with positions can handle it in batches with an 80/20 split: lock in part of the profit first, and keep the rest with a protected level while watching for further extension.

To put it plainly: the biggest fear when a short is making money is being greedy all the way to the end and giving the profit back.

If you didn’t get in, don’t chase—wait for the next opportunity, and act again only when the entry is at a more comfortable level.
