Crypto News message: On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump described the United States’ restart of bombing operations against Iran as a “military conflict,” denying that this marks the fighting entering a new long-term phase, but he refused to say how long the conflict will last. Trump said: “We have to take the action we’re taking now. We’ve significantly weakened their ability, but they will resist for a while.” Although the fighting has already far exceeded the four- to six-week operational timeline initially set by the U.S. government, Trump downplayed the likelihood that the conflict could continue indefinitely. He said: “We fought in Vietnam for 19 years. We’ve only been here for four months, so I think we’ve done a lot of work.” Trump did not provide details on how he plans to ultimately end the war, but insisted that he will ultimately be able to negotiate an agreement with Iran. However, he acknowledged that the chances of reaching an agreement in the near term are not high.

Trump’s talking points are too familiar: first escalate, then negotiate—a classic loop.
