Golden Finance reports that on July 14, local time July 13, US President Trump said the US is protecting multiple wealthy countries in the Middle East, so it should receive cost reimbursement from those relevant countries. Trump named Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait, saying the US is maintaining the security of those countries as well as Israel. He said it is appropriate for the protected countries to share the related costs because the US has invested money locally. Trump also said that the US has abundant oil resources: “Including oil from places like Venezuela, the amount of oil supply the US has is more than half of the world,” so the US itself “does not rely on Middle East oil.” He added that the US’s actions in the Middle East are “mainly to protect allies.” (CCTV International News)
