In every PC gamer’s mind, there’s a story all their own about hardware upgrades and gaming awakening—maybe it was the first time they installed a graphics card themselves, a weekend LAN party, or a 3A blockbuster they decided to “upgrade their setup” for in pursuit of the most immersive visuals. To commemorate these golden years that drove technological progress, the graphics-card and AI chip giant NVIDIA is bringing a heartfelt, one-of-a-kind gift to players worldwide.
According to NVIDIA’s latest official announcement released on July 9, 2026, NVIDIA has officially announced the launch of its first physical collectible card project in history—“GeForce Trading Cards: Series 1.” This completely free set of exquisite physical cards features 14 unique designs, aiming to condense and celebrate major turning points and technical breakthroughs in GeForce PC gaming history.
14 classic designs, witnessing GPU history milestones
In this newly released Series 1, NVIDIA has carefully selected multiple highly representative technology milestones. These include the “NV1” blueprint from 1995, which laid the foundation for the company’s PC graphics multimedia, and the “GeForce 256,” which debuted in 1999 and shocked the industry by integrating transformation and lighting technologies into a single chip—it’s also widely recognized in the industry as the world’s first truly real GPU.
In addition, the card lineup also includes the “GeForce 3,” the first to feature programmable shaders; the “GeForce 7800 GTX,” representing the mid-2000s PC gaming craze; and the “GeForce 10 series (Pascal architecture, such as GTX 1080),” which delivered a major performance leap for high-resolution and virtual reality (VR). Beyond hardware, classic real-time technology demos such as Bubble, Chameleon, and Medusa are also highlights of this collectible set, and even the “GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition,” which combines cyberpunk visual aesthetics.
Free distribution through the Summer of RTX gaming expo
In its announcement, NVIDIA particularly emphasizes that this GeForce trading card set is not a commercial product sold to the public, but a free commemorative item created specifically to give back to community fans. Players and collectors can obtain these valuable card packs through the “Summer of RTX” summer series events that NVIDIA is holding.
According to the event plan, NVIDIA will distribute them on-site at major offline gaming expos and community events around the world, including upcoming annual events such as Bilibili World 2026, QuakeCon 2026, and gamescom 2026. Players only need to visit NVIDIA’s booth or a partner’s booth on-site, watch for event information, and answer simple interactive questions—for example, “Which GeForce graphics card and which game opened your PC gaming journey?”—and they may have a chance to receive a physical card. At the same time, NVIDIA’s official community social media channels will also periodically run online giveaway activities.
Checklist cards help collecting; more series may be released in the future
To help players collect more systematically, Series 1 also specially includes an exclusive “Checklist card,” enabling fans to easily track and understand the hardware and game-evolution history represented behind each card.
NVIDIA has named this release “Series 1,” which also inevitably leads people to speculate that, as graphics rendering technology and artificial intelligence continue to advance, the official will very likely follow up with more generations of trading cards in the future—turning NVIDIA’s important footprints in technology history into unique physical cultural assets. For players who love the history of PC hardware development, this is the best time to closely follow NVIDIA’s community updates and get their hands on the first batch of official collectible cards.
