According to Nikkei, Sony Bank will issue a U.S.-dollar-denominated digital security (Security Token) for retail investors on July 29, enabling investors to indirectly invest in roughly 45k music copyright titles, including songs by artists such as Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. The report said this will be Japan’s first digital securities product related to music copyrights. The product is expected to offer an annualized yield of about 3.5%, with a fundraising cap of $10 million. Sony Bank said it hopes to provide music fans with a new “oshi-katsu” (support-for-your-favorite) way to invest through digital securities.
