According to Nikkei, Sony Bank will issue a U.S. dollar–denominated digital security (Security Token) to individual investors on July 29, allowing investors to indirectly invest in approximately 45,000 music copyright works, including songs by artists such as Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. The report said this will be Japan’s first digital securities product related to music copyrights. The product is expected to have an annualized return of about 3.5%, with a fundraising size capped at $10 million. Sony Bank said it hopes to provide music fans with a new “supporter cheering/encouraging (oshi-katsu/推し活)” way of investing through digital securities.
