OpenAI is taking this round directly at Anthropic. On July 12, Anthropic just extended paid access to Claude Fable 5 by another 7 days and increased Claude Code’s weekly usage cap by 50%. Within a few hours, OpenAI’s Codex lead, Tibo, fired back: temporarily cancel the 5-hour usage limits across the Plus / Business / Pro three tiers, optimize GPT-5.6 Sol for efficiency so it can run about 10% more on the same quota, and Codex’s active user base has already surpassed 6 million.

The most immediate positive impact is landing straight on the compute supply chain—MSFT (with Azure as OpenAI’s foundation) and NVDA (GPU consumption rises as constraints are loosened) both have near-term storylines. On the crypto side, WLD (Worldcoin, with OpenAI’s Altman in the mix) is also frequently treated by funds as an “emotions-driven” tag to ride the move.

Bias toward bullish, but only as a “window-period trade.” The key variable is the two words: “temporary.” OpenAI hasn’t provided a deadline—once traffic crushes the clusters, it can be pulled back at any time. Anthropic and xAI Grok 4.5 are also competing for the same batch of developers. Cutting prices and increasing quotas is a double-edged sword, and gross margin will be dragged. And with crypto tokens like WLD, you don’t even need to say more—the narrative is tied to Altman personally, so the volatility is about one notch wilder than US stock “mother ships.” Chasing the highs is something to be cautious about. #OpenAI取消Codex5小时限制
