Mars Finance reports that the State Council has approved the “15th Five-Year Plan” for expanding consumption. The plan proposes developing digital consumption, promoting high-quality development of digital consumption, deeply advancing “artificial intelligence + consumption,” and implementing a digital consumption upgrade initiative. It will expand consumption of digital products by increasing effective supply of next-generation smart terminal products such as AI mobile phones and computers, smart wearables, smart robots, and desktop-level three-dimensional (3D) printing equipment. It will also accelerate research and development of intelligent security and video care systems, and ensure interconnection and interoperability, while carrying out pilot programs for the approval of intelligent connected vehicles and their operation on roads.

The plan will enhance consumption of digital services by using technologies such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality to empower life services and scenic area neighborhoods, and by promoting integrated applications of artificial intelligence in education, healthcare, culture, tourism, and sports, among other fields, to expand application scenarios for intelligent agents. It will innovate digital content consumption by introducing more high-quality digital cultural relics and museum products, strengthening the supply of ultra-high-definition content across radio and television and online audio-visual platforms, and developing new film formats such as virtual reality films and LED digital cinema halls.

It will also expand channels for digital consumption by supporting digital marketing by offline commercial enterprises, guiding the standardized and healthy development of instant retail and live-streaming e-commerce, and improving the quality e-commerce standards system. (Caixin)
