Oh my, the number of people who died due to extreme heat in the UK over the past two months has exceeded 2,700.

According to estimates by Imperial College London and other institutions, in England and Wales, 9 consecutive hot days in May caused about 550 deaths, while 11 hot days in June caused about 2,200 deaths.
June 24 to 26 was the worst period, with an estimated about 440 people dying each day from heat-related causes.
The research team attributed about 42% of the deaths to additional heat caused by human-driven warming.
In May, the UK’s highest temperature reached 35.1°C, and in June it again exceeded 37°C; both months set new records for the same period.
