According to Indeed’s hiring lab, since Anthropic’s Claude Code went live in February 2025, job postings for U.S. software developer positions have increased by nearly 15%, while over the same period, Indeed’s overall job postings fell by 7%. Indeed noted that these two trends appeared to occur at the same time, but also said the correlation does not prove causation. Despite a rebound, software developer roles remain 27.5% lower than the levels in February 2020. Between May 2025 and May 2026, 71% of newly posted developer roles were senior positions, and 37% of job titles mentioned AI.
