According to Beating monitoring, Indeed’s Hiring Lab found that since Claude Code was released in February 2025, the number of job postings for software developer roles in the United States has increased by nearly 15%. Over the same period, the total number of job postings on Indeed decreased by 7%.

The growth is mainly concentrated in senior and AI roles. From May 2025 to May 2026, 71% of the new job postings came from senior positions, and 37% came from roles that mention AI in the job title.

But this does not prove that Claude Code directly drove hiring. Indeed emphasized that the two only appeared at the same time. Even if software developer roles rebound, they are still 27.5% lower than they were in February 2020.

This round of growth looks more like demand has shifted direction. Companies are increasing the number of senior developers who can work with AI, and junior roles may not necessarily benefit in parallel.
