A preliminary guess as to the cause of a fire at a bar in Bangkok, Thailand is a short circuit in the air-conditioning equipment’s wiring.

Bangkok’s Office of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said in a local-time briefing on the 13th that, based on an initial investigation into the Bangkok bar fire, the fire was likely caused by an electrical short circuit in an air-conditioning unit mounted on the ceiling. The fire spread over an area of about 164 square meters, and relevant departments are further investigating the specific cause of the incident. At around 23:57 local time on the 12th, a fire broke out at a bar near Raphop Road in Chatuchak District, Bangkok, Thailand. Bangkok Governor Chatcha Sittiwong said in a briefing on the 13th that the bar fire has been confirmed to have left 27 people dead and 63 others injured, including 22 whose injuries are critical.
