BlockBeats message: On July 13, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takai, in a video speech at the opening ceremony of WebX 2026, once again emphasized that the government will increase its support for startups. She said that, with a synergistic effect between Web3 conferences and government support policies, Japan’s innovation ecosystem is expected to see further development.

First, Takai Sanae discussed WebX’s positioning. She said that, as one of Asia’s largest-scale conferences based on blockchain technology and focusing on Web3 social applications, WebX brings together about 15k attendees from around the world, which is of great significance.

She said: “This conference attracts many startups to participate and hosts matching and outreach activities with various investment institutions. For Web3 practitioners, this is an important platform where people can engage in equal dialogue around the future of society and industry, improve their understanding together, and further facilitate business cooperation. It is of very great significance.”

Successive Japanese governments have continued to promote Web3 strategy. Since the Kishida Fumio administration formulated the Five-Year Startup Cultivation Plan, the Shigeru Ishiba administration and the Takai Sanae administration today have continued to use the WebX platform to directly transmit policy signals to the industry. This also reflects that Japan’s policy direction for developing Web3 has not changed due to cabinet transitions, and instead has maintained strong continuity.
