Golden Finance reported that on July 13, according to Qbit, Claude posted on X that it has extended its Claude Fable 5 subscription period again by 7 days to July 19. In addition, OpenAI posted on X that it has temporarily removed Codex’s 5-hour usage limit; the end date is unknown.
Previously, due to ongoing tight compute capacity, Claude had repeatedly postponed the date of switching Claude Fable 5 to a usage-based billing model. Afterwards, some users shared screenshots of high credit card bills and proof of subscription cancellations, explicitly stating that if this continues, they will switch to OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol or xAI’s Grok 4.5.
