According to Beating monitoring by Beating, Tibo, OpenAI’s head of core products, said the combined active users of Codex and ChatGPT Work have reached 6 million. Codex will temporarily lift the 5-hour usage limit for the Plus, Business, and Pro plans and reset a single allowance uniformly.

OpenAI is also adjusting how GPT-5.6 Sol usage is calculated. The new version will reduce the allowance consumed by similar tasks, but the specific reduction has not been announced. For high-frequency users, these two changes will directly extend their continuous usage time.

Codex user growth is still accelerating. Axios reported in early June that its weekly active users had just exceeded 5 million, up more than 6 times from the time of the desktop version release in February. After more than a month, the official figure has risen to 6 million.
