According to Nikkei, Japanese convenience store chain Lawson will, in early August, collaborate with digital asset wallet company HashPort to conduct a JPYC Japanese yen stablecoin payment trial at its Goteny Gateway City store in Takanawa, Minato Ward, Tokyo. Consumers can complete payment by using a mobile wallet barcode. Lawson said this is the first time in Japan that stablecoin payments have been integrated with the POS system; the trial will validate system stability and real-world payment latency, and based on that will decide whether to introduce it officially.

Rosen’s move is quite steady—convenience stores plus stablecoins. Bringing it into everyday scenarios is far more practical than just chasing speculative “concepts.”
