BlockBeats news: On July 13, Japanese convenience store chain Lawson will launch a JPYC (yen-pegged stablecoin) payment pilot at its Tokyo Gateway City store in early August. The pilot is being carried out in partnership with digital asset wallet provider Hashport. This is Japan’s first attempt to connect stablecoin payments with a POS system for testing.

By connecting to the POS system, purchase data such as the number of items and payment time can be integrated into the existing store management system for management. Lawson plans to use this experiment to verify the stability of the stablecoin payments integrated with the POS system and the time required for actual payments, and then decide whether to introduce the system nationwide.
