South Korea’s first launch of the highest-tier alert after upgrading its high-temperature warning system

The Korea Meteorological Administration issued at 10:00 a.m. on the 12th a highest-level heatwave warning for two locations in the southeastern part—Gyeongsangbuk-do’s Gyeongsan County and Pohang City. It urged the public to immediately pause outdoor activities, move to shaded areas, and replenish fluids. Anyone or any pets should not be left in enclosed vehicle cabins. This is the first time the highest-level heatwave warning has been issued since South Korea upgraded its heatwave warning system last month. (Xinhua)
