Israel held parliamentary elections on October 27, the first time in nearly 40 years that no early election was held.

Golden Finance reported that, according to The Times of Israel, Ofer Katz, chairman of the Knesset House Committee, announced that the parliamentary election will be held on October 27. The current Knesset will complete its four-year statutory term on July 17, and the election will be held on the date prescribed by law. During the discussion, Sagit Afik, legal adviser to the Knesset, said that the current Knesset “will complete the full term and will not be dissolved early,” which means there is no need to introduce a bill to dissolve the Knesset early. This will be Israel’s first parliamentary election held on the statutory schedule in nearly 40 years, and the first government in over 50 years to complete a full term.
