Iranian scholar: Iran seeks to advance a new framework for managing the Strait of Hormuz

Golden Finance reported that on July 12, Mohammad Eslami, a senior researcher at the University of Tehran, said that, according to Article 5 of the memorandum of understanding, the United States has accepted an arrangement for Iran to cooperate with neighboring countries to manage the Strait of Hormuz. Eslami said Iran’s position on the strait issue is “very clear,” namely to move forward with a “new management” model. He emphasized that “Iran does not want to block the Strait of Hormuz,” and revealed that Tehran has already engaged with the United States, Oman, and some European countries on this new framework. He added that if the U.S. side has any objections to its interpretation of Article 5 of the memorandum, it should hold consultations with Iran.
