Cities in China suitable for digital nomads aren’t just Huizhou—any new first- and second-tier city works.

If your exchange account earns 500U in interest every month, you can live the life of a big flat in China.
In the past few years, when governments required developers to build residential buildings, they had to reserve at least two talent rental housing units in each residential compound.
Now whether it’s a luxury home or a big flat, you can choose from talent rental apartments priced at 1,200–1,600 yuan/month, and even the 1,200 yuan ones have more than sixty square meters you can choose from.
These rental homes aren’t only fully renovated—they also come with all the soft furnishings: a washing machine, a refrigerator, an office desk, a whole-home fresh-air system, air conditioners, and even beds, tables, and chairs are already provided, so you can truly move in with just your bags.
After you rent the place, you still have 320U left from the 500U, which is enough to make the monthly payments for a car. Fuel cars in China are basically bargain prices now. Back then, I wanted to buy a Honda Accord, and the 4S shop quoted me 240,000. Now it’s down to 120,000—half down, and the monthly payment for 5 years is about 150U.
With the remaining 170U, buying groceries for one person and cooking at home—no matter what—is more than enough.
