The U.S. military posts again to refute Iran’s claim that it “controls the Strait of Hormuz,” saying the strait is an international waterway.

Golden Finance reported that on July 12, the U.S. Central Command said in its latest post on a social platform that a commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy of Iran recently stated in official media that without the Iranian armed forces identifying, tracking, and monitoring, no foreign vessels may pass through the Strait of Hormuz. This claim is untrue. In fact, Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz. The strait remains an international waterway. The U.S. military has been deployed and is ready at any time to maintain this status quo. Earlier, the U.S. Central Command posted that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to all vessels that legally pass through this international waterway, and that the U.S. military has completed its deployment and is prepared to ensure that freedom of navigation continues to be safeguarded. Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz, and shipping through the strait is currently still operating normally.
