The storage capacity of the human brain is limited. The amount of knowledge a person can learn, remember, and retrieve over a lifetime ultimately has a ceiling. AI is different. Its storage can be expanded without limit—model parameters can be increased, databases can be expanded, knowledge bases can be continuously updated, and compute and storage can be stacked on an ongoing basis. So the essence of AI competition is not only a compute race, but also a storage race.

If knowledge is the most important productive asset of the future, then storage is the most important land in the AI era. How much storage is worth depends on how much you think the knowledge base of all human civilization is worth.
