A court in São Paulo, Brazil, ruled that Coinbase must reimburse users whose self-custody wallets were stolen for nearly $100,000.

Mars Finance news: A court in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, has ruled that Coinbase must refund a user nearly $100k. The user said that funds deposited in Coinbase Wallet disappeared in unauthorized transactions. Coinbase argued that the wallet’s private key was entirely controlled by the user, but it failed to prove that the transactions were initiated by the wallet holder and failed to prove that security measures existed to prevent this outcome. The court made its decision based on relevant provisions of the Consumer Protection Law and required Coinbase to refund the full amount plus statutory interest.
