Deep Tide TechFlow message. On July 12, Citrini analyst Jukan disclosed in a post on X that Nvidia has decided to temporarily give up adopting TSMC’s COUPE (compact general-purpose photonic engine) technology. The reason is that TSMC’s progress in advancing silicon nitride (SiN) technology has been slow, and the development of a two-dimensional grating coupler has not met expectations.

It is learned that Nvidia’s earlier “Plan A” was based on a TSMC COUPE co-packaged optical platform, while the latest “Plan B” has shifted to Tower Semiconductor’s silicon photonics platform.

Jukan also previously said that the release timeline for Nvidia’s next-generation Rubin architecture products may be delayed again.
