To build its latest model, Meta made an emergency strategic pivot, temporarily pulling thousands of employees from their original work and instead generating so-called “expert traces”—high-quality programming examples guided step by step by humans, for post-training of the model.
This further proves that the real bottleneck for frontier large models is no longer just raw compute, but high-fidelity, manually verified reinforcement learning data.
