Yesterday I went with a friend to watch “Kung Fu Women’s Soccer.”
A lot of people are complaining, and some keep asking whether it’s worth watching.
I think it is worth it. Just based on the name Stephen Chow alone, for these few dozen dollars, I feel it’s definitely worth it.
The story looks awkward, the punchlines feel stiff, and everything seems unnatural. After the soccer parts, it almost looks like AI was used—it’s like animation. That’s the feeling I got after watching.
But maybe it’s possible that we’ve all grown up, and it’s never the way it used to be. Back then, one pack of spicy noodles could make a kid happy all day. Now I want A8A9.
And Xing Ye has never changed—he’s always preserved that nonsensical, deadpan style. Perhaps if we return to being kids and watch this “Kung Fu Women’s Soccer” again, we might feel something different.
People can’t possibly have both youth and the feeling of youth at the same time.
