Samsung Electronics plans to advance the production start time of its first semiconductor chip factory in Yongin to 2029.

Mars Finance News, according to Yonhap, industry sources said Sunday that Samsung Electronics is working to bring forward the production timeline for its first semiconductor plant in the Yongin chip cluster to 2029, one to two years earlier than the original plan. “Bringing the first plant forward will allow Samsung to respond more quickly to the rapidly growing global demand for AI chips,” an industry official said. In addition, last month Samsung said that under its super project investment plan, it plans to invest 20.3 trillion won (about $1.35 trillion) in Pyeongtaek and the Yongin semiconductor cluster, and invest 4 trillion won to build two new chip factories in Gwangju, 270 kilometers south of Seoul.
